The Tree

She sits there with me
Through everything.
She would never leave.
She waits for me, rain or shine.
I sit in her huge cradle of limbs,
and watch as people drive by.
My watching eyes
hidden by the dark green leaves.

I sit there,
in her embrace.
The dark enclosure,
hides me from the world.
My tears fall.
My smile shines.

She, tall and old.
Me, young and small.
I visit her everyday,
she is done growing,
but I am not.

Every cold winter
her leaves fall,
and she is bare,
inside and out.
For her little visitor,
visits her no longer.
