Love is…
A Divine intervention in the circulatory system
of diamonds and pearls and chocolate swirls..
Imagine with me says the Divine, your heart like this
in the palm of mine.
He showed me a heart the shape like we draw,
with rounded corners and in 3-D.
His words remain like a sweet refrain as he taught me
the function and rays of the heart ablaze.
Imagine, He says, this heart filled with a million diamonds
multifaceted brilliant ones of rarest quality.
At first they lie in a dark warm space,
waiting for light to illuminate.
There’s some who sparkle for the love of a mother,
others light up at the laugh of a brother.
Then one day someone comes along,
and lights a whole section with a song.
I take the center as that’s where I belong,
so when you remember me I come bright and strong.
Then all that’s left is lit by family and friends,
‘till one day your light explodes at life’s end.
In the meantime there’s a place reserved,
one that is hidden from the world.
A place that lies quietly in place,
yearning for someone to find the space.
It is the brilliance of the perpetual motion
the same as the tide teasing the ocean.
True love for the hidden space inside
makes the heart skip and light up the sky.
Like millions of stars flung into the heavens
the heart becomes ablaze seven times seven.
He turned the heart shaped like a diamond studded pillow
round and round and showed me the middle.
Here’s where I live and breathe and have my being,
This is your true love who lights the fire…and pointed to you…my only desire.
