Twilit mornings and foggy nights
spoke of my past, foretold our meetings.
I knew the ground you walked on
Just by how it shun.

I could never forgive my marked heart
From your touch, like saffron on the
wind, you never quite left me.
Like friends, like lovers, like soldiers

we meet. Again and again in my mind
In my dreams, while I walk, while I wonder.
I see you still. The shadows are alive in
your memory. And my fingers are left cold.

I wonder if in all those close breaths
I knew once, of how you were staining me.
Of how it would be years before
your light left my night sky.

You have exiled me to a barren
scape. Without you, the wind rings silent,
But my heart and head remain alive
In your memory.  A song that never truly dies.

A pair of brown eyes haunt me still.
I could never stop loving you.
