Fairy Tale

Once upon a time,
A fair princess ruled–
Beautiful and lovely
Gentle and good
Just and kind.
Her kingdom– vast
And plenty
Abundant and ample
Filled with good
People and things.
Outside of her
Kingdom lived a
Witch– Crooked
And corrupt
Filled with contempt
Malicious and malevolent
Hates her Fair Lady.
Protected by a Fairy
Dainty and sweet
Seasoned and weathered
Strong and bold
Loves her Fair Lady.
King and Queen–
Ignorant and maintained
Well-kept and dignified
Absent and absolute.
Every evening,
Her Fair Lady speaks
With her Fairy–
Speaking of dreams
And memories
And of her day.
Fairy, patiently listening
To each word.
Her Fair Lady
Speaks of a man.
Handsome and tall
Strong and chivalrous
Her Fair Lady fonds
Over her new lover
Falling for him
To her Fairy.
Fairy, worrisome
And bothered
Fearful of the man.
One day, the man was
On his way to battle
To slay a giant
Outside of the kingdom.
On his way, he finds
A woman on the roadside.
He dismounts his emerald horse and
Walks to the woman.
Whilst checking on her,
The woman turns to him
And waves her hand
Casting a spell
Enchanting the man
To follow her words.
To go to the princess
And to trick and harm her
The Witch spoke her words,
And the man was on his way.
To the princess he rode
Back down the road
Towards the Princess’ palace.
When he arrived,
Her Fair Lady met him at the door
Greeting him and welcoming him
Into her mighty home.
When showing the man the
Trophies of the King’s victories,
The man draws his sword.
Bewitched by the words
Of the evil woman,
The man prepares to swing
His sword at the head of
Her Fair Lady.
Swiftly, the Fairy intervenes
Speaking sweet words in the
Ear of the man
Disenchanting the words
Of corruption and crookedness.
The man drops his longsword
Iron clattering on the floor
Echoes fill the kingdom hall.
Her Fair Lady,
Startled and afraid
Scurries away from the man.
Fairy, asks the man
His reasons for the attempt.
He tells of the woman on
The roadside he had met.
Fairy, having heard of the
Witch outside of the kingdom
Leaves the palace
Seeking the Witch.
On her adventure
To find the evil witch
Fairy speaks to her
Fair Lady at the palace doors.
Her Fair Lady in tatters
And upset, cries and
Asks why the man had
Broken her heart.
Fairy, full of love
And gentleness, speaks
Of reason and comfort
To Her Fair Lady on
The palace steps.
Her Fair Lady, gentle
And sweet, declares to
Join Fairy in the finding
Of the evil witch.
As they set off,
Fairy and Fair Lady
Are interrupted by
The thunderous footsteps
Of an emerald horse.
In chorus the man
Sings in sorrow and praise
Pleading to Her Fair Lady
For repentance and forgiveness.
Her Fair Lady,
Patient and kind
Forgives the man for
Whom she loves
Falling further in fondness.
The man asks to join
The quest of finding
The witch who had tricked him.
Fairy– still bothered and fearful
Reluctantly accepts the invitation.
And so their adventure begins
Three stoked by the fire
Of vengeance and justice
Seeking the witch
Who lived outside of the kingdom.
Short after exiting the kingdom walls,
The three find a dark
Collapsing house
Off the side of the road.
Three approach the wooden door
Seeking to speak to the witch
The witch calls to them from
Inside of her hut
Inviting them inside
Fairy calls out in skeptic
Tone– asking to meet outside.
Adamant in her invitation
The witch invites three inside
Worrisome and bothered,
Fairy again declines.
Filling with anger
The witch withdraws
Her invitation and
Agrees to meet outside.
A beautiful girl
Young in age
Short in stature
Steps out the door.
Eyes filling with tears
Face full of fear
Looks at Her Fair Lady
Like a daughter with her mother.
Her Fair Lady asks the girl
Who she is and why she’s there.
Little girl, stuttering
And stammering cries
Out for help.
Running to Her Fair Lady,
Embracing the child
Her Fair Lady comforts the scared
Little girl.
Fairy calls for the witch again
From inside of the house
No voice replies
No response from inside.
The man pulls Her Fair Lady
Away from the arms of the child
Warning and discerning
Of the identity of the girl.
Fairy comes back to the girl
Whispering words in her ear
Suddenly the girl screams
And transforms into the witch.
Crooked and corrupt
Filled with contempt
Malicious and malevolent
Hates Her Fair Lady.
Shocked by this change
Three step behind
The emerald horse who
Has an emerald hide.
The man draws his sword
From the sheath on his side
Draws it upon the witch
With hatred in her eyes.
He commands her to leave
The entire realm
Commands her to leave
And to never return.
Witch cackles and
Curses the ground
On which they stood
Her Fair Lady steps towards
The monstrous witch.
Her Fair Lady, against
The wishes and commands
Of the Man and Fairy
Steps closer to the witch.
Gentle and beautiful eyes
The Princess embraces the witch
In her arms the witch lies
In her arms, the witch dies.
A transformation began
From the monstrous witch to a
Dainty sweet fairy
Seasoned and weathered
Strong and bold.
Eyes of the Fairy
Meet eyes of her
Daughter.
One she had not seen
In many seasons of time
One who had been lost
One who has been found.
Fairy embraces her
Daughter
Crying tears of joy
Filled with love.
Back to the palace
Rode the four
To protect her kingdom
Lived a Princess and
Her prince
And her two fairies.
