growing up.
when we’re younger,
they ask what we want to be like,
when we grow up,
we respond with things like;
doctors,
dentists,
vets,
teachers,
walmart cashier,
silly things,
by the age 14 they stop asking,
it’s like they know,
we’ll respond with;
happy,
dead,
skinny,
muscular,
taller,
shorter,
smarter,
things we get laughed at for,
but instead,
they ask us where we’re going,
and we want to 6-feet-under,
but we smile,
list off a few schools,
and move on.
