The Choice

I firmly believe that you cannot help who you love but in the fact that falling IN love is a choice
It’s a decision to be made on whether you are willing or not willing to give your all
To set yourself free and unite as one being
Everyone bullshits and says that you can only fall in love so often
The big truth being that you refuse to allow yourself to feel again the pain that came along with the heartbreak
Love hurts it sucks but to deny yourself the feeling of being in love because you allowed yourself to bare your soul to the one that you thought was The One... Is cruelty
We are beings that are not meant to be alone nor isolated
If you block the one thing that allows you to connect how is that fair to you
How is that fair to your other
To open up is to invite pain and hurt but it also invites peace
You make the decision to be in love to decide if you are willing to cross that bridge onto the journey of uncertainty
To ride the waves that come with letting go of control
The control that we all so dearly cling on to
To find ourselves spiraling into a world unknown
But let me dial it back...
You see I was once in love
A love so blinding that I couldn’t see anything but them
My world was nonexistent before them... it was as if my eyes were just opening for the first time
But that love was no fairytale
I was crushed by the fact that I gave my all and in return I was left broken
I believed that there wasn’t anything left because I realized that in return they were not in love with me
They refused to make that decision because of another
Carrying the weight of baggage from the past becomes a burden unwilling to let go
So to love is not the problem that is the easy part the challenge is in the choice... The decision to allow yourself to fall in love.
