SHE STOOD TRANSFIXED....

She stood transfixed against the light
So hesitant in her being
Her sad deep eyes were filled
With loves sweet lust and agony
Fearing the pleasure that is so frail
And the pain that comes with the slightest falter
Afraid to touch and afraid to let go

Mocked by Aphrodite who
Sated in her goddessship
Makes a cruel and complex game
Out of something that should be so simple
Allowing only some of what we want
But somehow always more than we can use
Afraid to give and afraid to keep

(2012)

goddessship is the only word in the English language with three consecutive identical consonants
Sometimes a memory returns so sharp and clear that it seems more like a vision, or maybe time just romanticizes that which is gone
