Driver

She comes to me
Holding out her hand.

“Come with me now.”
And I comply
Without even asking why.

Hand in hand we walk
And there is intermittent talk.
Nothing too heavy.
Just idle chatter.
Not knowing exactly what is happening
My nervousness is growing faster.

We come upon our destination
For there’s a blanket laid out
On this beautiful piece of landscape.

I have never been here before
But being with her
I feel peace
And no need to escape.

We settle down
And she hands me a glass of champagne.
We toast to …
“Possibility.”

After she has drunk her champagne
She takes my glass from me
Embraces my hands
And looks into my eyes.

“I want …”

And then I wake up.
