With words left unspoken
These promises broken
Are washed away by
These emotions awoken
Forgive the sinner
Hate the sin
Mourn the ending
Of what’s yet to begin
We surrendered our hearts
A deep love did jumpstart
Now we drift and we drift
Further, further apart
The touch of your soul
The warmth of your smile
You made me feel whole
You made it all worth while
You grappled alone
These feelings deep as bone
Had I been more forthright
We’d not be on our own
Where time once stood still
Now stands hesitation
Challenging the will
Of anticipation
