Paying No Mind

The disconcerted Porcupine,
Waddles it’s way across the manicured lawn,
Paying no mind to the Calico Cat
That learned it’s lesson weeks ago.

Mockingbirds chase their siblings
In and out of the Rose Bushes
And across the putting greens
That no-one seems to use.

Pleasure crafts drift silently
Through the man made channels,
Docking at the Apple’s and Exxon’s
For brunch and contracts signed.

Ah, living in the land of Gracious Living,
Where Jaguars and Bentley’s roam.
Where BMW’s and Range Rovers
Take their places in the circular drives.

Every morning the soccer-moms
Flush with jogging suites and seedy gossip
Flood the streets and sports fields
With Starbucks firm in hand.

Yes, they live the life of Gracious Living,
To want for not and begrudge the rest.
It is the way of so many masters,
Blind to the Master of their own.

So the disconcerted Porcupine,
Waddles it’s way across the manicured lawn,
Paying no mind to anyone
Not the rich, the famous, or a Calico Cat.

An exercise in being vague and still getting a point across.
