Oil & Water

They didn’t mix
They never did.
Time and time again, they tried
Even with a steady whisking hand
As they sat together they drifted apart
They whisked harder
Each time growing further and further apart.
Water, trying to understand the thickness and flavor of the oil.
Oil trying to understand why the water was so bland and plan
Neither could comprehend
The oil was strong; many loved it or hated it.
The water, many loved
But would constantly be turned into something it wasn’t.
They never understood each other.
The oil was rich and bitter.
Never sweet
The oil had given up.
The water wanted to mix
Oil longed to keep its individuality.
Not wanting to mix with anything that would make it bland
They would never mix
Oil and Water
