When you see a crab floating in the sea
Do you ever wonder what it may have seen?
The adventures it may behold
The story it has never told
When you look at me
Tell me, what is it you see?
Are you simply looking at my shell
Or searching for a story I won’t tell
You can’t see what I hide inside,
The contradiction of a cancer’s mind
This shell protects my heart
Without this guard I would fall apart
Don’t be fooled by the strength on the surface
Without its shell, a crab is worthless
The mood is up and down, up and down
Inside is a sea of emotions that is never sound
When I see a crab floating in the sea
I wonder what it’s hiding underneath
A shell that acts as a shield
Protecting a spirit easier to break than to build
When you see me, what are you looking for?
There’s more in my heart I wish you could explore
But if you try I’ll stop you every time
Because you can never break this shield of mine
