self taught heartbreak
You taught me to believe in love.
You taught me its okay to be vulnerable.
You taught me how to connect with someone,
In ways I didn’t think were possible.
You taught me to feel beautiful,
Even when I don’t think I am.
You taught me how to love.
And you taught me to cherish every moment.
You taught me all of these important life lessons,
But its what you didn’t teach me that I need the most now.
You didn’t teach me that people change.
You didn’t teach me that one day,
Everything would be lost.
You didn’t teach me how to be strong,
When I feel im at my weakest.
And you didn’t teach me how to stop loving you.
You didn’t teach me how hard it would be,
To watch you move on without me.
And you didn’t teach me that even after all that pain,
I was going to be okay.
All of the things you didn’t teach me,
Are things I have to teach myself now.
And all of the things you did teach me,
Are tucked away.
Waiting for the moment,
When they can be taught by someone else.
