Another Old Friend
Every time the phone rings
Bill’s afraid the caller might say
another childhood classmate has died.
This will hit him hard because
Bill knows he’s moseying along
too fast in the check-out line.
But he tells friends it’s nice to know
whenever he’s rung up at the register
he won’t have groceries to bag this time.
