Today
Today, I sat beside a tree
And wondered who I was...
Today, I know that I am free
Tomorrow, will it pass?
Today, I think what thoughts may bring
And time may choose to paint
Today, I utter words that sting
Yesterday, love was faint...
Today, my mind roams wild forests
Where dreams and nightmares live...
Today, my soul in warm heart rests
And I accept what life does give,
Today, I sat beside a tree
And saw the shadow that it cast...
Today, I saw, above me, stars
Tomorrow will it last?
