The Clouded Light

Calm,
at altitude
Almost floating with gratitude.
The top, a consistent radiant white,
almost never seen.
The bottom, a little darker,
looking down at the ravine.
Which although the sadder side,
it’s the one to be admired by the soldier
who does not wonder why,
in the dying of the light.
