The dance of the Hunter

As sleek as velvet
the cat crept into the shadows of the night; unseen.
Its amber eyes glinted in the moonlight
tense, staring, not taking its eyes off its prey.
Its tender paws hit the ground without a sound
and its sharp ears twitched, listening for movements.
A twig snapped, it lurched forward, tail flicking
its pristine body shot past
and it caught its prey with a snap of its jaws

(2013)

originally it was called 'snap!' because I couldn't think of anything to call it -I'm rubbish with names!
