Being Up

I want to say thank you,
To all the people that doubted me,
Faulted me,
Broke my heart,
Tore me apart,
Knocked me down so low,
All I could do was go up,

I want to say thank you,
To my mother and father,
For giving me my brothers and sister,
Who motivates me to never give up,

Life is a process,
From when we are little kids,
To now,
The struggle teaches us how to grow up,

Being black is something else I have to be thankful for,
Everybody can’t be black I’m convinced,
We are a race that is frowned upon by many,
But our legacy as a ethnicity will always rise up,

I hurt myself with the decisions that I made,
By the people who I let back into my life numerous times,
I’m not worried about that anymore,
For real you guys,
All I do from now on is wake up.

I’m finding myself,
In the mist of everything I experienced in life,
What put a smile on my face is that I made it,
Through the help of God and my own will,
I know I will be moving up,

I’m just happy to be up.
