pride

jerusha farmer

I live; I sit, as this life runs by
I love; I pray but soon I’ll die.
I’ll wait my turn, I’ll stand in line.
I swear I’ll try to live this life.

To laugh, to know, I cannot see
How can I live in apathy?
I close my eyes
This tear rolled down,
This memory crept back on me.

A faceless life, a hidden time
I crawl from sight, aware this crime
Echo in the unknown deep
A voice ripples while waiting to speak.

A chance not given, no empathy
No heads are turned so they can see
Their visions faint, their minds unclear
A pausing silence ends the pride, to fear.
