A and E– My Prison

Oh woe is me, woe betide!
In you I have chosen to confide
My tale of grief and misery
But please, don’t let me spoil your tea.
I have suffered more than enough
To let this story cause a huff.

Once more into the breach, dear friends, once more!
Leave me... pray linger– no!
I am sure.
I have been maimed by the fist of Jiu Jitsu
But you are sprightly as a Shih Tzu
It is pointless to scream and shout
My demise is certain, I must miss out!

And all around me people suffer
Gaping wounds they try to cover
With missing hands, arms or legs
Whilst up to God they pray and beg
A fearsome place for anyone to be
But no one suffers quite like me!

My friends rang and now they’re gone
When times got tough their loyalty shone

“Bevs? It be rude not to.
Besides, there’s nothing we can do.
You bottled it mate, now you’re stuck,
To put it mildly– you’re fucked.”

Now they wield the lash of quipping
Whilst others use the art of fibbing
And all around them banter flows
“Bant’a! Bant’a! Bant’a! Bant’a!”

The Real McCoy, my one true home
Yet here I am on my own.
Sometimes it sucks to suck at sports
When time with friends it cuts short.
