Invisible

Observing the "It's a Sin," phenomenon from behind a wry old smile and a glass of champagne.

What if I won’t be found?
As the world turns white.
As the winds turn cold.
As a young gay man
Turns grey and old.

What if I won't be found?
When loneliness bites.
When I can’t be seen.
When my own community
Doesn’t see where I’ve been.

What if I won't be found?
As you watch, “It’s a sin.”
As you say that you care.
As your day to day conduct
Won’t accede I was there.

What if I won't be found?
When you just see my age.
When I am made invisible.
When I die here each day
Your emotions are risible.

What if I won’t be found?
As we dare to go out.
As a bitch of young queens.
As you sneer your disdain
And you just see, “has beens.”

What if I won’t be found?
When I’m Henry, Colin, Roscoe or Ash.
When I remain unseen as you walk on by.
When you fail to acknowledge
We didn’t all die.

La!

Inspired by the song from Dear Evan Hansen, "You will be found," and lockdown despair.
