GOOD ADVICE

  GOOD ADVICE

Diversions are as thick as grass,
I know you’ll meet your share.
Perhaps some winsome bonnie lass
With auburn colored hair

No matter how she’ll cry or cloy,
Just keep your wits in gear.
Stay steady as she goes, my boy
Be patient, do not veer.

Step to the music of your drum
To the cadence of its beat
And let nobody keep you from
Life’s great and wondrous treat.

Remember this—it’s not a jest,
You’ll never need atone:
The man who travels fastest
Is the man who goes alone.

So as you pass through life, my son
Whatever be your goal,
Keep your eye upon the doughnut
And not upon the hole.
