Just a Dream

A light accompanied the sunset today
Like one I have never seen,
Light yet still consumed the air,
But all was lost in a dream.

I still mourn for that glistening glare,
and how it hit the stream,
yes it did really consume the air,
as it was but a dream,

Who believes this light exists,
all but who have not seen,
Like love it did consume the air,
Just as it was a dream.

“Wait for me oh conundrum,
Why do you have to leave?,”
But the light just continued,
and its voice was not received.

In hiding it went, and under the horizon,
Not leaving a trace of its gleam,
All I have is blackness to put my eyes on,
as if it was just a dream.

I was lost again, in tribulation,
My searching skills are not so keen,
So I sat waiting, in contemplation,
wondering if it was just a dream.

I did wait for it to return,
each evening by the stream,
I waited until my heart ached and burned,
Then I accepted the death of my dream.

That light represented the illusion of love,
Which constantly hovers before me,
But I can never keep hold of my dove,
That would be just a dream.
