chosen

all the dust has settled, the sea swallowed back the tide
the sun has set and rose again to an undefined resolve
all my uncertain pondering now seems completely clear
my confusion, like the twelve foot wall
just guaranteed i’d lose it all

are these the consequences You knew that i’d search out?
did my recklessness when i resigned produce this conquered state?
i know everything has altered and i can’t remove defeat
i just wonder with this question quenched
would i still trail this awful stench?

the dreaded explanation held me captive for a while
but it’s not the elucidation that cripples me still
in all consideration there’s one thing left that I resound
am i Esau, Saul, Cain, Ishmael?
if You chose me, choose me all.
