Let the Moon Guide You

She looks up at the moon.
Though it is far away,
The glowing orb looks closer than it ever has tonight.
The gentle glow of the stars
Gives the earth below a dim cast.
Street lamps take on the moon’s mother-like charm,
And protect her as she wanders the dark city.

She wanders too far.
Light disappears as she leaves it behind her.
Cobblestone walkways trip her in the night.
Two hands outstretched in front of her,
Trying to find her way through the darkness.
Walls of dark alleyways enclose her,
And the sky is hidden from view.

Her feet are tired from lostness,
And her eyes feel strained from pitch black darkness.
Stumbling
Tumbling,
She finally finds the street.
She looks up at the moon where their eyes both meet.
