If You Were Him

For long
I’d sing my song
A song with no melody
No words to explain
Just his eyes
Writing my name
Each night is the same
Close enough for his hand on mine
Close enough to feel I belong
Belong with him
Always by his side
Along just for the ride
Why do I hide
Do my eyes tell the same story
No way to tell
Why my heart fell
To the deeps of the sea
Where I found me
More and more without you
If you were the last thing I see
I could never see me
Grains of sand on top
Sand as people
Looking gazing as stars would if we were we
All the stars would aline in a perfect constellation
For a moment
Then the next
I wouldn’t have to watch the sunset
To feel like we just met
While this clock is set
From the river drops to the mountain tops
You are not for me

If you were him
The man of my dreams
I wouldn’t have to wonder
I’d know like thunder
Rain would come
My eyes would blink
Watching it drop
Fall off your face
Details I can’t imagine
You’d take my hand
Forever you hold
You’d spin me round
As I see forever in your eyes
A road we’d walk for miles
In nothing but smiles
Yellow lines as our footprints
No script to follow
Just time
A time that doesn’t exist
Especially on your lips
Your hands on my hips
We’d look to the sky
And never say goodbye
