The Beast

The fear was eating me alive, and I bit down on my nails harshly, avoiding any eye contact. I tried to cover my ears, but it got louder each time and I silently prayed that I will be rescued from the beast. It fed off my trepidation, slowly killing me in the process and it was over, I was done for, no one to save me, no one to save my soul. I crawled into the wall, my back now aligned with the crevices of the wall, knees pulled up to my chest, tears rolling down my cheeks and loud sobs which caused my body to shake uncontrollable. My eyes shut tightly so I could not see it.
My lips quivered as I try to speak to the beast, “it is over, I’m ready to go back, just take me already!!!”
“No, I enjoy seeing you suffer” it said smiling.
But then I felt something,  it was hope and I fought back. When I opened my eyes I saw nothing and I knew I had won.
