The Colors of Me

Black is like the shadow of the night where I hide
When you scream at me
With the poison in the words you curse me with,
Like I don’t belong.

Red is like a painful cut
Lingering for days as it heals,
The anger never helps ease the pain,
Between you and me it just seems to get worse.

Gray is like the blade I use
As I cut down the path of my arm,
Bare and alone,
My voice is soft and never heard.

Yellow is like a daisy
Free from its winter shell,
When I’m busy walking down a garden path,
Surrounded by joy, and fresh scents.

Pink like a rosebud
Ready to bloom into greatness,
Tied together with its stem and thrones,
Like best friends together.

White like a cloud,
Flying free, lined up with faith,
Drifting and dreaming
Of a life without pain.
