Drifting

How many ages have I drifted,
In my immortal sleep?
I saw in dreams the worlds I passed
These memories I keep

I have traveled through a sea of stars,
Through countless galaxies,
Through every constellation,
I have distant memories

Cosmic clouds and stellar fields
A thousand suns shining bright
Origins of lights of day
And shadows of the night

Like a memory from a dream
Voices beckon light years away
My brothers and my sisters call
Time and space away

We search the cosmos endlessly
For planets needing aid
A world without an ocean
Or a star about to fade

Through meteor and comet
We bring life to foreign worlds
Miracles and disasters
The elements we hurl

Some call us gods, some call us nature
But titles are not needed
Our mission is to save the lives
On worlds that life was seeded

Our creator has long since gone
Transcended somewhere higher
We carry out its divine work
With earth, wind, water, fire

The lives are saved, our work is done
And now we must depart
To search for worlds in peril
Those with life and soul and heart

Flying on the plane, had an idea for a story about immortals that travel the universe searching for planets in peril, then bring whatever is needed to help them survive.
