Childhood

Brought into this world alone with no one beside me,
Why should I fear?
Raised by two people that never believed,
Growing up with doubts
Never knowing what I could have been or done
Piano was my favorite
Swimming was next
What was that thing called childhood?
I remember only but a few
The rest I try not to
I feel older than I am
I was treated older all the time
Childhood, where did you go?
You left me too soon and gave me so little
But don’t take me back...
Not there,
Take me back from the act
Take me back from the thought
Let me be that night,
The one that never happened
