Spaceman

When the devil rears his ugly face
And takes you by surprise,
And you stick around from sheer disgrace
That good part of you dies.
What do you know about the voices
That we quiet every day?
What do you know about the choices
That lead good people astray?
What’s left in that rotting abyss
That used to be a working heart,
When it gets too hard to exist
And you’re doomed before you start?
I’m not sure, I don’t know,
If I did, I’d do it too.
But I only see my doom below;
I’m falling through the blue

I resent your inability
To solve shit on your own
Just leave me alone
Just leave me alone
I resent your inability
To solve shit on your own
Just leave me alone
Just leave me alone

The streetlights turn on every night
To light returning paths,
But in a world of wrong and right
Good falls short of the math.
No I don’t know the father,
No I don’t know the son.
I don’t know these shitty deities:
We ask for help, they give us none.
So I’m here with my note pad
And my pencils, and my frown,
And my friends, my family, my dad
Ask what road they should walk down.
I tell them wander through their fear
So they might better know the light
But no one wants to hear.
No, no one wants to fight.
And they say Michael
Tell us stories, give us answers
Help us out,
Show us sunlight in the darkness
Tell us what life’s all about.
But I haven’t any remedies,
I haven’t got a clue.
I’m just lost and scared and empty
As I plummet through the blue.

I resent your inability
To solve shit on your own
Just leave me alone
Just leave me alone
I resent your inability
To solve shit on your own
Just leave me alone
Just leave me alone

No I haven’t any remedies,
I haven’t got a clue.
I’m just lost and scared and empty
As I plummet through the blue.
