A Test Of Human Decency

“Crazy? NO! More Like Blessed "

In the cell dark four walls and the door.
I’m not well, sweaty dry mouth balled up on the floor.
Fetal position, there’s tension because of the life that I’m
missing.
Truly I say I can take this, for I know one day it will end in
blissfulness.
Damnit these stu-pid stuu-pid walls, my hands turn into
fistballs.
Now I can feel my face flush red and I am mad, biting my
lip until it bled, on the verge of a crazed fit, I laughed.
A guard walks by and says “ahh he’s gone crazy”,
I laugh again and ask “ was ref teviah crazy for speaking
with the almighty?
I point up and say “you created me in good health”.
Then I realized I’m not alone by myself.
Here I am crying to wine and yet still you managed to get
the message to me that Life is Divine.
I laugh waving my finger to the sky.
You are slick you had the answer available as soon as I
asked why.
I’m laughing up a storm.
I ask any question and the answer forms.
Then I realized, as the guard walked by.
He’s got the freedom, but truly I am the blessed one.
There is a reason for this creasy room of nothingness.
It taught me to put my faith in your lord when I get out I
know you’ll do me justice.
Then I started marching and strutting around my cell,
laughing singing my song I yell
“I am definitely a rich man, a dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby
dibby dibby dum”.

This poem I wrote in prison in reference to "Fiddler on the Roof" as if I was Reff Teviah the main character locked in prison having a conversation with
