To Children & Teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School

'Twas the start of their day’s work
A fresh encounter with dreams
Nurtured by their teachers’ care
Beyond parents’ love, more than fair.
“Please, show me your nice drawings,”
A very young teacher said—
Encouraging them to pursue
Their art everyday anew.
“Teacher, let’s paint and draw today,
Focussing on the stories read
And the games we always play—
A painting for our next birthday.”
Their paintings, their drawings
Could not be finished there...
We’ll keep figuring out their shape
And won’t let fond memories escape!
