It's wet and rainy

It’s wet and rainy so I chose this dawning
To sit on the porch this contemplative morning
The curtain of showers is but two feet from my scribbling
The quiet just shattered by a robin’s loud cawing
Contrasting sharply with the droplets dancing merrily in puddles
And the puffs of wind coaxing the wind chime to sing softly

This wants me want to don old clothes and walk in the rain
I did so as a young girl again and again
Maybe I’ll do it and see what joy if any it brings
If nothing else my good sense and caution I will fling
Some may comment “She’s crazy, she’s gone 'round the bend!”
Only God and I know, and we be friends.
