Captain Larry

In the harbor’s embrace, where waves kiss the shore,
A weathered boat sways, its timbers worn and more.
Its captain, a soul of salt and sea,
Guided his vessel through tempests wild and free.

His eyes held the secrets of tides and stars,
A map etched in wrinkles, a life marked by scars.
He’d cast his nets at dawn’s first light,
Chasing elusive fish, their silver scales bright.

April came, a bittersweet tide,
As whispers of farewell echoed far and wide.
Cancer’s cruel grip had taken its toll,
Yet he faced the horizon with a steadfast soul.

No more pain, he’d said, as the sun dipped low,
His spirit unbound, ready to go.
The boat rocked gently, a cradle of peace,
As he sailed beyond the mortal seas.

The gulls wept tears, the waves sang a dirge,
For the captain who’d danced with the ocean’s surge.
His legacy etched in salt spray and foam,
A sailor’s heart finding its way back home.

And so, we raise our glasses high,
To the fishing boat captain who touched the sky.
His spirit sails on, forevermore,
In the whispers of waves along the distant shore.
