Sublime

by M.B.V

As you called me sublime,
You drove me into the light
That took me to a paradise,
To a realm of pure delusion
It was a façade of delight.

You called me sublime...

As I walked through that garden,
I saw that bittersweet apple,
I took a bite, and there I was, fallen.
Through this earthly hell, I grapple
As I try to free myself from the shackles,
Forged by the false words you made.

You called me sublime...

As I walk through the dark and cold night,
I look up at the stars and seek guidance,
For the faintest light to guide me and invite,
This broken-hearted girl to solace.
I no longer live by the sun’s false glow,
Where every sin melts on the snow.

I was never sublime...
