My heart rips at the sound of change
Tears swell as I see it come in range
unexpectedly stealing the stage
With a plan to rearrange
Everything! for something new in exchange
I wish to resist this uncharted new phase
Yet change is persistently in my face
Oh! How I long to chase
The familiarity I find at home base
Can I stay in that safe place?
Yet change is like the ever drifting sea
Shifting sand and shells with no guarantee
That they will ever again rest next to thee
On the ever moving beaches in Hawaii
People come, stay and leave
So why did I open my heart to you
When in a few years you would leave too
Left with a torn heart and some glue
I must move on and start anew
But today I will mourn and be blue
