An Odd Visitor

A leaf came by this morning
I was awake and yawning
The cool breeze knocked on the windows
I got up from my fluffy pillows

I looked out the pane and the tree I saw
It seem to me like a tiger’s paw
Up and down, Left to right
The branches with the wind were in a fight

The gray skies brushed to black
All sunlight was not there, is was lack
No green grass anywhere
Nobody seems to care

The leaf was sad because it lost its home
The tree said good bye and was left alone
The wind blew its most powerful scream
It was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen

I opened the window just a little bit
The wind came in with a tremendous hit
The leaf came rushing inside my room
I think it thought it was its doom

This leaf had a beautiful color of red
And landed on the right side of my bed
It felt warmth that was so deep
I covered it with my blanket so it could go to sleep

Dark and windy day you are so strong
You took the leaf from where it belong
You swept the tree with your awesome broom
And brought this leaf into my room

I’ll take care of this leaf that’s so little
It is under my blanket that is soft and not brittle
You are a visitor that it here to stay
I’ll play with you through this dark and windy day

Make the sun shine through rain. See life gratefully.
