If I Left Town Tomorrow

If I left town tomorrow,
What would you like to hear today?
A poem? A song?
An excerpt from a play?
A speech for the present,
Just to hear what I had to say.

If I left town tomorrow,
Would you write to me at all?
Would you be the woman I loved,
The one that I enjoyed the fall?
The woman I know you are,
The little girl who always stood tall.

I’m not saying that I’m leaving,
I just wanted to make sure.
That in the end, love is still a sickness,
And only love, or death, will be its cure.
That in the end, if things never went as planned,
I want you to know I had plans in store.

If I left town tomorrow,
In a car wreck or otherwise...
I want you to know I love you,
And there is nothing that can break those ties...

If I left town tomorrow,
I NEED you to find the truth in what you see as lies.
