Night-time Fears

Night—time Fears

I climb the stairs alone in the dark
the Shadowman comes out.
Each step I take, each stop and stare
the black phantom is about.

Each room I pass, each door ajar
the darkness deep within.
Each monster’s lair, each lion’s den
with savage creatures threatening.

I lie in bed, I toss and turn
my mind so full of scenes.
Each creak I hear, each swish or rustle
my body silently screams.

Those prayers I say, those sheep I count
make sleep so hard to see.
One of English and two of Maths
brings forth the Z Z….. Z’s.
