I’d mute the world
so I wouldn’t have to listen.
Listen to the people who talk
just to hear their own voice.
Listen to the people who talk
and wish me to talk back.
I want to be able to go
days
weeks
months
without saying a word.
No one could ask me if I was ok
No one could be mad
that
words have not passed my lips in days.
But these are my lips I think
why is it bad if I choose to keep them sealed.
Why is it not seen as
acceptable
Why is it not seen as
normal
If we are considered verbal
it is socially unacceptable to not speak
So day in and day out
I speak
but most of the time
I’m up in my own head
speaking my own words
and the best part is
this un muted world
is def to it.
