Grateful for it all
Even on a bad day
where the rain is falling
and traffic barely moves
and everyone thinks I’m a jerk
I know that the sun will shine again
and I’ll find an open road somewhere
and at least a few people can tolerate me.
Those are the things I’m most thankful for.
But I’m also grateful for annoyances
and things that can sometimes upset me
because everything changes in this life.
Nothing is eternal
and whatever is here today
might just be gone tomorrow.
That thought alone
kindles my gratitude at Thanksgiving
and every other day, as well.
