Memories of a Pay In Festival

more of a story than a poem but dont let rules restrict creativity subvert-convert

Day 3 at the Green Man love charade I was woken by an almighty crash
A mother admonished a child that if they did that again then
Then they would be going straight home again
As it was beginning to rain anyway and was very wet already
To be fair she did apologise soon after so it probably hasn’t
Given the child a traumatic memory to enjoy as an adult
I left at that point to the only cafe on the camp site
A strange place with a strangerLast  sign that declares
That friends look after all the animals so well
Before they murder them and probably from behind
Scanning the Vegan/Veggie options I observed they
Do not seem to understand that an egg is an
Animate feotus as the only claimed vegan breakfast
Was a sosmix sausage with all the joy taken out by
A scrambled egg on top mouldy milk soda bread
Last night there was Chick Pea Curry on the menu
A particular favourite of mine enjoyed on occasion
But the rice was not vegan a fact I lack capability
To completely understand and acknowledge
Neither was the Naan Bread I was forced to understand
So after some negotiation I settled for a plate
Of chick peas in a coconut milk curry sauce
I sweear I did find a piece of what was once a sweet potato
Finished with a spoonful of mango chutney that was mere jam
Topped with some slices of homebaked wholemail bread
The one thing that stuck in my throat was the 10 it cost me
With a further 2 for a mug of earl grey tea to wash it down
A perfect example of the Free Market Economy where
Nothing is ever free without a catch and where the cost of
Basic foodstuffs is under the control of seller not the buyer
Falling onwards to disaster blindly paying all fees!!
