Clenched

Clenched
Upon the flat a warrior stood,
The earth moved under him.
Knowing that the sound he heard,
Might never come Again.
Change had come, foretold complete
That soon they would be gone.
This great,  ground clenched beast
That roamed from dusk to dawn.
A ring sounds out, piercingly
a flash of light is seen.
The warriors arrow straight and true, the stone slices clean.
The coming cold that looms above, to come, to soon this time.
Might well he know in future days a beast that’s hard to find.  6-5-13
