NARCISSUS GOING BLIND

long-winded soliloquies
years years
of them pouring through my nicely
clef-whorled ears
now my face is cloven
in anxious carings
features fooling weak eyes’ will
in waters long tossing in Echo’s angry wake
cruel waters eating cruel sleep
fashioning a dream’s reality complete
soon alas dissolving upon wakeful truth’s tragic face
O where must my very owned remembered me go
to seek now solace of some sort?
O! pray perchance
a meeting of our eyes in
sight wavering, gaze tangling
in darkness light ebbing there
picking out O love adored contours
the conviction of a smile
