In truth there is nothing new
Under the sun to care but specificallities;
Of who’s house is burning today,
Who is poorer or who died,
These events are dark entertainment,
Sadistic consumer gocking & review,
The news is not really news
but merely who it is happening to,
The generalities are always the same,
One person’s suffering is another’s gain,
Humanity doesn’t change much in thousands of years,
The news provokes salacious staring but should illicit tears,
Are we supposed to know what goes on all
Around the world? What foreign goverments are up to?
Or the latest in our backyard,
Ignorance is bliss, knowledge bringeth misery,
If I can’t help I’ll turn off the tv or computer,
& I’ll go read a book
To soothe my curiousity...
I’ll close my eyes
To the news,
I will not look.
