I TOLD MY MOTHER,

everything

Remember me,
When I can’t yell out your name;
Remember me,
When I don’t bang on your doors;
Remember me,
When you can’t hear me cry;
After the nights falls.

Cerulean skies, And bright lies?
I told my mother I am alright.

Dinners at nine,
I dread the nights I see your face,
But I am fine.
Even when you sit a chair away.

Remember me,
When all that’s left are rotten flowers;
Remember me,
When you find my pages of bleeding ink;
Remember me,
When I’m all but a memory;
To be forgotten.

I told my mother I’m alright;

Through lunches and trips,
Luxuries that I can’t afford,
I have always been alright.

Even with bleeding knees, And cut open heart

I m alright.

I will tell my mother,

The poem mainly reflects the fear of being forgotten. The author is hurting. But cannot bring themselves to tell anyone about the pain. But their mother constantly asks as she cares. The author also has this debilitating fear of someone in the house.
