Found

Together, we began. Exploring a new territory that never existed before– the place we created when we found each other. I was ordinary, and you were nothing special until we made love. Then we were both perfect.

I learned you through my senses; ragged breathing, and what “intimate” means. We are merely people who learned what it is to be human beings. It was the first time I was lost and did not concern myself with being found– I had no reason to be.

The torrid whirlwinds of seething emotions and harsh words rock our newfound world, causing it to quake and buckle beneath our passions. What is bliss without pain? We erupt in obscenities, and we are still naked. Our cruelty is hot and cold, but at least we are dressed now– cloaked in our shame.

There is still vast ground to cover. This terrain is rough and uneven, the wreckage of our chaos strewn about. With no escape, I am to cover your rock face. Subdued by your eager avalanches—your anger, your past. Every yearning beneath screams to submerge me within your subterfuge—

but I am the doomed canary in your coal mine, singing your praises until the darkness consumes me and I can no longer breathe.
