When I was in my youth
I was obsessed with a man named Kubrick
His films were multi-layered
Some like a maze or a cube, Rubik’s
I first watched The Shining
Which was beautifully shot
I remember being awestruck
A lot out of it I got.
I remember watching A Clockwork Orange
With Malcolm Mcdowell
The ultra-violence and rape
Was enough to make me howl
Howl with satisfaction
As I reveled in this piece
This bright, popping work of art
That depicted everything but peace
But as I grew older
I picked up Eyes Wide Shut
The ending quite shocked me
When Alice says “Fuck.”
I’ve seen all his movies
Including 2001
Dam, that Stanley Kubrick
For his money he had quite a run
