Love is
My Lord and my God
Why am I lonely even as I am not alone?
My heart feels unloved and abandoned
Even as I am cherished and embraced
This life can feel so cold
Like a dark and dangerous night
My heart is heavy
I fight to repel the rising feelings
Of bitterness
Of resentment
You are neither blind nor cruel
Life is not a contradiction
But conflict
All things are wedded in paradox
All of life would be absurd
If you were not faithful
We cannot understand
We only know
By the sight of unseeing eyes
Your power is unlimited
Your will is unopposed
And the world is full of monsters
And monstrosities
Terrors
And those who terrorize
The child is miserable in their health and youth
The old and broken are at rest in their souls
Through the hard rain and violent winds
We come to know the pleasantness of profundity
Hear my prayer, Oh Lord
Only do not leave me alone, Oh my God!
Do not cast me from your sight!
Take everything from me
But not yourself
For, you are my everything
Allow my heart to serve you as a faithful priest
As a member of your Holy Nation
As one purchased by your Blood
As one of the Eternal Family
As one assembled forever
In your presence
Love is the goal
Love is the purpose
Love is the meaning of life
Have you not told me so?
Am I not your student?
Are you not my Teacher?
If I have learned anything at all,
It is THIS
The Truest of Truths
Love is...
And there is nothing else
Compassion and purity are not
If there is not love
Prayer and petition are not
If there be not love
That binds them up
That undergirds
That carries them on to you
